Privacy policy

The short version: the things you tell CycleChef about your cycle, your body and your meals stay on your iPhone. We don't run a server that collects them, we don't sell anything, and there are no ads or trackers in the app.

Who we are

CycleChef, the app and this website at getcyclechef.com, is made by ESP Digital, a company registered in the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce number 42173934). ESP Digital is responsible for your data as described here. If you have a question about your privacy, email hello@getcyclechef.com.

What the app stores, and where

To plan meals around your cycle, the app needs to know some personal things. You enter them yourself, and they are saved in the app's own storage on your iPhone:

• Cycle details: the start of your last period, your usual cycle and period length, and any contraception you mention.
• Your goals, eating habits and foods you want to avoid.
• Daily check-ins: symptoms, mood, energy and sleep.
• Your meal plan, saved recipes, articles you've read and your logbook.

This is health information, so we treat it with extra care. We don't receive it and we can't see it. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the app's data is included in that backup, like any other app's. Those backups are handled by Apple and by you, not by us.

Your account

You can sign in with Apple or with an email address. Either way, your account details are kept in the secure keychain on your iPhone.

• Sign in with Apple gives the app an anonymous user ID, and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. You can hide your real email address with Apple's relay option.
• Email sign-up stores your email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password on your phone. Your actual password is never stored.

The camera and your photos

When you scan food, the photo is analysed on your iPhone using Apple's built-in image recognition. The app keeps a cut-out “sticker” of the food for your logbook, stored on your phone. Photos are never uploaded.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, reminders are scheduled on your iPhone itself. No notification service of ours is involved.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details; we never see them. The app only learns whether you have an active subscription.

What we don't do

• No advertising, and no ad networks.
• No analytics or tracking tools in the app.
• No selling or sharing of your data. We don't have your app data, and we never sell or share your waitlist email.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address, the date you signed up and which button you used. We use it for one thing: to tell you when CycleChef is available in the App Store. We don't use it for anything else, and we never sell or share it.

Your address is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. When you join, we send you one confirmation email, and later the launch email, through Resend, our email provider. We keep your address until you ask us to remove it, or until we no longer need it for the launch.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link that deletes your address straight away. You can also email hello@getcyclechef.com and we'll delete it.

Signed up earlier on our early-access page (cyclechef.elisepieterse.com)? We moved your address to this list, so you'll still hear when CycleChef launches. The same rules apply.

We process your email address because you asked us to (your consent). You can withdraw that at any time.

This website

getcyclechef.com uses no cookies and no analytics. It's hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, briefly keeps technical logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. The fonts are served from our own site, so no third party is contacted when you visit.

Deleting your data

In the app, open your profile and tap Delete my data. That erases everything the app has stored, including your account on this device. Deleting the app does the same.

If you signed in with Apple, you can also stop using Apple ID with CycleChef in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Sign in with Apple.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can see, correct, export and delete your personal data. In the EU and UK that's your right under the GDPR; elsewhere, local privacy laws (such as those in California) give you similar rights, and we honour them the same way. Because your data lives on your own device, you can do all of this in the app. If anything is unclear, email us and we'll help.

You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live. Our lead authority is the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Children

CycleChef is meant for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If we change how the app handles data, for example by adding a feature that syncs to a server, we'll update this page before that change ships, and tell you in the app if it affects you.
